Ely De La Cruz Ayao
For Los Angeles City Council District 6

Establish a Public Safety Commission to include each of the communities of District 6. Comprised of Neighborhood Council Members, Neighborhood Watch, Business Community and Residents.

Meeting every 2 weeks with Council Member to share concerns, solutions and areas to provide additional resources.
Enhance existing “Neighborhood Watch” Groups in each community and establish and fund all groups in CD6.

Establish a “Homeless Response LAPD Unit” to respond to only business and citizen calls involving Homeless individuals who are causing a disturbance and possible threat. This unit is designed to protect establishments and individuals.
The Homeless Response Unit will be funded by Council funds and officers will be paid Overtime to participate.
Work with nonprofits with a proven track record of accomplishment in providing immediate transitional housing in areas agreed upon by the community directly impacted. This will provide compliance with current court ordered restrictions on our ability to involuntary move homeless encampments and individuals from non-appropriate areas.

A Graffiti and Illegal Trash Dumping Task Force will be established immediately and funded by the council office. To include an Anti-Graffiti enforcement pilot program to enforce vandalism code violations of organizations and individuals.
This will include charting the district for problem areas, individuals responsible and prosecution and resource dedication.
Provide funding to Public Works and Sanitation for rapid response bulky item pick up for items illegally dumped.
As more input is received from community groups resource distribution will be targeted towards addressing those challenges.
Our goal is to be Pro-Active and results oriented in order to improve the Quality of Life for all in City Council District 6.

Homelessness

Each year the homeless count increases with no viable end in sight.

Taxpayers have voted for and allocated billions of dollars to address the homeless crisis and the challenges to our communities in the form of crime, blight and decaying neighborhoods.

We must take an honest and hard look at what is working and what is not. To get a clear and accurate assessment of the programs, I will work directly with the LA City Controller in reviewing and auditing the programs entrusted with addressing the homeless crisis.

We will work with nonprofits with a proven track record of accomplishment. We will provide immediate transitional housing in areas agreed upon by the community directly impacted.

This will provide compliance with current court-order restrictions on our ability to involuntarily move homeless encampments and individuals from non-appropriate areas.

Working with the Department of Sanitation, areas which have been abandoned and left with discarded items and trash will be cleaned in a timely manner.

All special programs will be funded by the council office.

Public Safety

Clean Safe Neighborhoods

Fully support and fund the Los Angeles Police Department.

Support, fund and equip the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks Park Ranger Division.

There are hundreds of parks, small and large, in the City of Los Angeles.  With less than 30 Park Rangers to patrol and protect our families, there is a public safety crisis in areas such as the Sepulveda Basin and Hansen Dam.

I will support the Los Angeles Airport Police and provide them with the resources needed to provide the level of service and security the community has a right to expect.
